Frequently Asked Questions
(Mentorship & Donorship)
Q: Can my veteran or active-duty mentor be a family mentor?
A: Absolutely. Family members often make exceptional mentors. Eligible mentors may be veterans, active-duty service members, or members of the Guard and Reserves of the United States Military.
Q: How does MYTVets verify a mentor's military service?
A: All mentors are verified by the MYTVetS Board of Directors. If the Board is unable to confirm a mentor’s service status, the application may be rendered ineligible.
Q: How can my mentor receive a MYTVets Donorship Number?
A: Anyone — civilian, veteran, active-duty, or otherwise — may receive a MYTVetS Donorship Number by visiting our Donorship page and selecting a qualifying donation tier.
Q: If my mentor does not have a MYTVetS Donorship Number, does that disqualify my application?
A: No. While a Donorship Number is not required, we sincerely appreciate individuals who support the program through our Donorship initiative, as it allows us to expand scholarship and grant opportunities throughout the year and into the future.
Q: What should I do if I accidentally select “No” and can no longer continue the application?
A: Email scholarships@mytvets.com immediately. Our team will provide instructions to restore your application and ensure you remain eligible for consideration.
Q: Can I receive a MYTVetS Donorship Number myself?
A: Yes — and we greatly appreciate your interest! Anyone may obtain a Donorship Number by visiting our Donorship page and selecting a qualifying donation tier.
